... and strings ...

... stored by members for community use.

Two things can be joined by many strings.

Consider joining to add some things and strings, and improve it for the community.
A member can create a new thing by entering:
• A title and, optionally, a subtitle and summary.
• A category placing the thing in context, and helping users find it.
• An optional affinity set so members can check it's in their comfort zone.
• Optional tags helping users to find the thing in their searches.
• Optional text and image features for display.
The creator may leave a thing unchanged, or may edit it when they choose.
Things can have identical titles.
Archivist then automatically gives them unique instance numbers.
A member might use this to improve on a thing created by another member.
Selecting the instance number lists all the instances.
Each thing has its own discussion forum on its show page.
A member can create a new string by entering:
• The source thing.
• The destination thing.
• A title relating to the destination, with an optional subtitle and summary.
• A category relating to the destination so users can find it.
• Optional tags helping users to find the string in their searches.
All strings are listed in the strings table.
A thing's strings are listed under the thing itself.
Strings allow fast movement from thing to thing to thing.
Like things, strings can have identical titles.
A member might want to improve on a string created by another member.
Selecting the instance number lists all the instances.
Each string has its own discussion forum on its show page.
Application Idea: Taxonomy
Ratings are: Universal, 12+, 15+, 18+, and 18R.
Visitors only see information rated as universal.
Members see information determined by their age and preferences.
Sensitive adult members can pretend to be younger.
They can set an assessment age lower than their actual age.
They will then be more protected than other adults.
Before a member sees an object, their age is checked against the rating.
The object will appear only if the user's age and preferences allow.
Movies themselves have a separate official classification
that is specified during the creation or editing of the thing.
We built Archivist with children in mind but, for a while,
visitors must be over 18 to register as members.
Archivist supports freedom of speech and advocates tolerance.
Problem objects can be reported to moderators for assessment.
Reports may highlight:
Incorrectly rated objects.
Unnecessary duplicate entries.
Abandoned instances of things, strings, and features.
Harmful acts and accidents.
Sexual imagery.
Acts of hatred.
Imagery and texts promoting child abuse.
Private information not in the public interest.
Copyright materials not shown according to copyright law.
Advertising in the wrong places.
Outdated, irrelevant, and or misleading information.
They can view, search, sort, copy and print that information.
Members can see information rated for their age and sensitivity.
Members can search, select, view, list, copy, and print that information.
Members can also edit and delete information they have provided, but not shared.
Invites from thing creators will allow non-creators to edit things.
A simple internal messaging system in addition to the forums.
1. The main forum for a general query.
2. An object's [☰] Hamburger/Options-Report button, for a report.
Please note there are only a few of us, so responses may not be instant.
